What is the limit on body art and piercings that a police officer can have, that is if it is allowed. If the officer is female, same thing? Tattoo and piercing wise, what is allowed on the force, and what isn't?

Are Police Officers allowed to have tattoos

Sure, but they can not be seen by the public, so those officers who choose to wear tats, have to wear long sleeve shirts or a bunch of band-aids!

Are Police Officers allowed to have tattoos

I've seen cops wearing short sleeve uniforms with tattoos all over their arms, and it looks pretty disgusting in my opinion. Whether they're allowed to openly display them or not depends on the particular department they work for.

Are Police Officers allowed to have tattoos

I've got some cop friends with tattoos on their backs and shoulders. As long as it is hidden during professional duty, I do not see a problem. The 1st amendment applies to these guys too, so they are free to express their individuality on their personal time.

Our city is cops have tattoo's. Most of the time they are fairly hidden.

Once when me and a friend were pulled, we asked to see his tattoo and the cop flipped. He was complete dick.

My department does not allow tattoos to be visible. So in general, if u have anything on ur hands, neck or face, u will be disqualified. Arms r allowed, but u have to wear a long sleeve shirt year round. Though if it is something small or military in nature, they tend to let u slide on the long sleeve requirement.

Piercing, have what u want on ur own time, but males can not have any piercing jewelry visible while on duty. Females can have simple earrings.

My department is fairly strict. I've seen departments a lot more liberal, especially with tattoos being visible as long as they r not offensive.
