I've alwys been intrigued by simple body art. However, I am a super clean cut guy and have a phobia of needles, so l do not honstely know if it would ever be for me. But, if anybody can give me some feedback, just out of curiosity, what does it feel like to get one done? Give me an idea of what the pain might be compareable to, if you can. What kind of stuff do you have to do after the fact, like in terms of keeping it clean or whatever?

Question about tatoos from a clean cut guy

I am a TOTAL wuss when it comes to pain, & let me tell u what -- it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be! I had my 1st tattoo touched up so I think it hurt more than it normally would because there was already scar tissue. It felt like a cat licking u (with that sandpaper feel) over & over. I thought that the out-lining was more painful than the shading.
Also, it was directly on my hip bone which added even more to the pain. If u do it somewhere like ur arm, it does not hurt nearly as much (from what I've heard).
If I had to compare it to something I've felt before.than degree of pain is probably close to falling down & skinning ur knee, then pouring alcohol over it. BUT, it is not really the same type of pain. sorry!

It feels like a cat scratching you for a long time. After wards you wash it 4-5 times for the first 4 days, then after that you wash it once a day and put non fragrence lotion on it. Go to johnnytattoo.com for tat ideas.

it feels like a cat scratch. right after getting it done it hurts to expose it so sunlight so u should cover it when going out. your arm will be swollen and red. it itches and sometimes can smell. it wo not look too pretty until the skin peels and your skin has healed. u have to put ointment on it everyday multiple times a day for a few days and gently wash it 1000 times a day

Question about tatoos from a clean cut guy

The thing with tattoos is that although needles r used, u dont really see them, & so u dont really fear them. My bf got a tattoo, & he is terrified of needles. Proof that a wuss can get a tattoo lol.

Secondly the pain varies from place to place. Nearer the bone(bits with less flesh) hurt a lot more. But in fleshier places a tattoo doesnt hurt too bad! For an example a tattoo feels like a cat scratch, a scrape(like when u scrape u arm on a wall or something) or even a bee sting. It is like a hot stingy pain- but it is deffinately not unbearable, & u really do get used to it after awhile.

After wards u need to keep the tattoo clean. The aftercare is very simple. You just need to wash the tattoo twice a day with a very mild soap & some warm water. Then u need to apply a cream to it. My tattooist recommended bepanthan (which is a nappy rash cream for babies) & it worked really well!

Like I mentioned earlier, my bf hates needles, & he is not really the type of person to go for tattoos, yet he went & got one. Me? I love needles, I've got a tatt (planning more) & thirteen piercings. But u dont have to like needles to be able to cope, honestly!

Anyway, I hope that helped u a bit. If u want any more info, just ask & I will be happy to help u as best as I can. Also, if u do decide to go for a tattoo, ur tattooist will be able to tell u anything & eveything u ever wanted to know about tattoos- icluding procedure, aftercare, pain scales, time, cost, etc etc.

Good luck!

Question about tatoos from a clean cut guy

To me its kinda like having glass scraped over ur skin REALLY hard. Other people say it is like being stung by bees. It depends on how big the tat is, & where u get it. I have a Yin/Yang on my wrist about the size of a quarter that did not hurt to get done. I have a butterfly done on part of my ribcage on my back & that was VERY painful.

After, u have to keep it dry & clean. The artist should give u directions how to care for it.

If u decide to get one, make sure the artist opens a new needle in front of you. Hepatitis & HIV can be spred through dirty needles.

Question about tatoos from a clean cut guy

I got one done on my back, & honestly the only real pain I got was from having to sit in the same position for 45 minutes. I got an awful kink in my back & was sore the next day, but the actual tattoo was really not all that bad. I've tried waxing my legs & that was more painful than getting my tattoo. It started to itch a bit while it healed, but it was not bad. All they really told me to do was keep it clean by washing it with soap & water (no hard rubbing), & leave it alone. The more elaborate the tattoo the more painful it can be, & depending on where it is can make a difference too. But overall it is really not all that big of a deal to get done. When you're getting it done, you're not seeing a needle the way u do with a shot, so u do not really have to worry about the whole needle phobia thing, as long as u do not think about it.
