l am 18 l have been practicing tattooing for about 3 years. l am very much into body art and modification. But it seems every single shop l have called or showed my drawing portfolio to have shot me down, even refused to look at my drawings. l hate to keep tattooing illegally...
Go & get a few tattoos, & get to know the local tattoo artists in ur area. Yeah, there r a lot of jerks out there, but a lot of people r looking for apprenticeships, & they get tired of hearing it. Maybe u will run into the right shop owner sooner or later. It really helps if you're already somewhat known in the tattoo community. Take the time to meet people in ur area, if at all possible. But do not advertise the fact that u r tattooing without proper guidance. That is what is pissing them off. Do not talk shop. Just get to know them.
