Am I the only one who finds excessive tatoos and body piercing repulsive?

It sounds like u have led a very sheltered life. tattoos & piercings r not fads, have been around about as long as people have. You do not have to like them, just like I do not have to like closed-minded, uptight, whiny little girls. The difference between a tattooed & non-tattooed person? It does not bother the tattooed person. You're missing out on a lot of intelligent, creative people by painting them with the freak brush. But then again, maybe you're doing them a favor.

Well, everyone has their opinions, & I respect that, & even agree with it to a certain extent. HOWEVER, I love body mods. I have 9 piercings - 3 in each lobe, 1 in my cartilage, labret, & nostril. I use to have my eyebrow pierced, but it rejected. In my opinion, that is not too many. If someone has their whole face pierced, then yeah, that is unattractice to me. Same goes for tattoos. I do not have any tattoo is yet, but, I plan on it in the near future. I do not have a problem with tattoos covering anywhere on the body, except the face, to me that is very unattractive!. I do think that when those people that r covered with tattoos, when they get older, & their skin starts to sag, then yes, the tattoos may look bad, depending upon where it is located. It is something people should think about, & consider. The way I look at it though, u only live once, why not do whatever makes u happy?!?!..Needless to say, there is different labels of people out on this Earth, even if u do not want to be labeled. Freaks, Gays/Lesbians, Jocks, Preps, etc..you get my point - Everyone is different, if we were all the same, just think of how dull the world would be. It is not a cry for attention, course I am only speaking for myself, not anyone else.I just want to be me. Piercings/Tats to me is attractive, & I like them.so why not show them?!?! - I am proud of them. Does it get people is attention?!?!, yeah I think so.I wish it did not though, 'cause quite honestly it gets annoying!!!!.But I'd feel lost without my piercings, they're apart of me, & who I am.It does not mean I am a freak, or want attention, regardless of what anyone else may think, I have them simply because I love body mods! Nothing more, or nothing less..

personnally they do not do a thing for me, but everyone has there own likes and dislikes - is not that the most wonderful thing about people. We are so different and unique, never a dull moment. Some people just make it more interesting than others. Think of how boring the world would be if everyone dressed the same, had the same hair cut, style and color. BORING. I wonder how people who are blind ''judge'' people?

I must first state that I have two tattoos & seven piercings. My tattoos can easily be hidden & I do not always wear all seven earrings.

I can not stand excessive body art/decoration. My brother wanted to get a sleeve & I begged him not to. He settled for getting his shoulder done & it looks nice on him.

I do not mind a person with a few tattoos (obviously or it would be way hypercritical) but if u get to the point where u can not count the number with more then the two hands u have then it is waaaay too much.

As far as piercings go, I do not like facial piercings at all. Nor do I like anywhere else. The only acceptable location (IMO) is the ears.

I agree with you. A few here and there are fine but all over and some of the weirder stuff, like the 'horn' implants and the branding, are repulsive!

I think Water Faery is answer is a good one. You should not judge people because of the way they look, unfortunately we all have a tendency to do so. Having said that, though, as an artist I find an overly adorned body unattractive. Body piercings as well do nothing for me in an aestheitic sense.

These days I think it makes people look tougher than they are, & I wonder whether that is the ulterior motive with a lot of them. If I was lost in a town, & had the choice of approaching two people to ask directions, & one was adorned with tattoos & piercing & the other wasn't, I'd tend to choose the 'plain' rather than the 'patterned' one to go to - I find them less intimidating!

they need to ''join the crowd''. Really, the only
one that benefits here is the person who charges
for the tattoos. Think about it.

not really, it is the same thing here. On the other side my grandma wants a tatoo, belly ring, and a hummer., and she is 71!

Sorry to say that is stereotyping & very judgemental. But u have a right to believe what u want. I am 31 & have a 5 year old, been married for almost 13 years & I have several tattoos & nose stud & several rings in my ears.. I am not overly tattooed & u can not see but one when i a wearing pants & short sleve shirt. But why people do it varies.Mine is for beliefs, all mine stand for something pertaining to my personal religious & non-religious beliefs. Sometimes it is a pain thing, conquering ones pain, or lack thereof, such as other countries who pierce themselves for reasons (most) westerners do not understand (I do though). The unattractiveness is in the eye of the one doing the judging. To some it is just part of who they r & to the ones that it is not for them, well may seem odd & unattractive. People r scared of what they do not understand. Ok not that I am a fan of the Christian bible but it does say that our bodies r a temple & every temple I have ever seen is adored with many different things depending on religion & culture..
So my advice to u is maybe be a bit more open & give people a chance, just like u would someone who is grossly overweight, unattractive? maybe? just the fat-- but not the person inside. The outside is just that-- the outside-- find out who the person is first without judging them by what they look like on the outside.

oh & by the way to the ones saying ''when u get old'' well when we get old we r not going to be flashin our bodies off anyway & we r probably not going to give a flyin hoot what others think anyway.. but to those of us who have have them for personal reasons will probably still hold them dear even though they sag.

I find it repulsive. I do not mind a little tattoo here and a piercing there but with some people you can not even see their actual skin. I had a tattoo. It was small and hidden. My boyfriend said that he would not marry me until it was gone. I do not need it or anything so I am currently going through laser.

Yes. It is a CRY for attention.Such people perhaps suffer from some kind of inferiority complex, and do some weird things. It is perfectly normal if you do not like the idea, and you are not in a minority.

I think the same way you do that an unnecessary amount of tatoos is just hideous. Maybe one or two SMALL ones in covered areas is OK but huge ones running down your arms and etc. are just ugly.

I too find them unattractive. It is just not my style--however, my tastes are not your tastes & your tastes are not my tastes. . .so live & let live.

Nope, you're not the only one. I also find it unattractive. So do most of the people I know. We're definitely not in the minority.

For some people, it may be a cry for attention. I do not think that is always the case, though. Some people just like the way it looks. I do not personally, but to each their own.

I hate the idea of tatoos & body piercing also.

I wonder if these people ever think what will happen when they get older.

Sooner or later these people will get tired of the fad but the piercings leave scars & holes & what will they think then.

Tatoos I mean really, when u get older ur skin tends to sag & wrinkle, those tatoos will be oh so attractive then LOL.

A wrinkled rose on ur buttocks, a sagging piece of barbed wire on ur arms, a dragon sagging all over ur chest, oh the horrors of getting old LOL.

I guess I am one of the few then too, and yeah it could be worse. ''1 or 2'' is one thing, but ''covered'' is something else.

I am 22 as well and i think that its gross, and yes some sort of cry for attention. But hey it could be worse right? they could be out killing people for attention.
